Women plant saplings on road in Virudhunagar district

VIRUDHUNAGAR: Members of the All India Democratic Women’s Association blocked traffic on the Virudhunagar–Mallankinaru Road protesting against the poor condition of the road in Pandiyan Nagar on Monday.

The protestors, led by the association’s taluk secretary, Subatra, also planted saplings on the road as a mark of protest. The road that was dug up for constructing drainage has not been properly restored.

Revenue and Highways officials pacified the protestors on the promise of setting it right at the earliest.
