Man sentenced for rape

New Delhi: A court here has sentenced a young man to ten years’ rigorous imprisonment for the rape of a six-year-old girl in a South Delhi locality three years ago.

Terming the offence as “barbaric”, Additional Sessions Judge Ravinder Kaur awarded the punishment to Jaidev, 26, a resident of neighbouring Faridabad, after finding him guilty under section 376 (rape) of the IPC.

The court also slapped a fine of Rs. 5,000 on him and ordered that in case the amount was not deposited, the convict would have to undergo a further jail term of three months.
