Bring in legislation for unorganised sector: CITU

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: V.G.K. Nair, General Secretary of the State unit of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), on Monday, reiterated the demand that the Union Government should immediately implement the Arjun Sen Gupta Committee recommendations for the benefit of the workers in the unorganised and agricultural sectors.

Inaugurating the week-long demonstration with a five-point charter of demands to the Centre as part of the central committee of the CITU, Mr. Nair urged that it should bring in comprehensive legislations for the two sectors. He said that workers in the unorganised sector formed 9 per cent of the work force in the country.

The programme will culminate in a rally and procession to Raj Bhavan on October 31 where a memorandum will be presented to the Governor Rameshwar Thakur.
