Tele-density improves to 21.85 per cent

NEW DELHI: Tele-density in the country has further improved to 21.85 per cent, while the total number of telephone subscribers, landline as well as mobile, stood at 24.86 crore, the Communications and Information Technology Ministry said on Monday.

In September last year, the total subscriber base stood at 17 crore.

However, in a separate release, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India said the subscriber base crossed the 25-crore mark.

While the Ministry said 76.52 lakh new subscribers were added last month, TRAI figures stood at 76.4 lakh, a difference of over 10,000.
