VISAKHAPATNAM: Here is an opportunity to allow your creativity run riot. The Hindu Young World’s annual painting competition is back to identify the budding Picassos, da Vincis and Hussains by way of creating a platform for their artistic pursuit. The competition will be conducted in two categories – juniors and seniors. Students of classes IV to VII will have to compete under junior category, while those of classes VIII to X come under senior category. There is no entry fee or form, and all that a student needs to do to participate in the preliminary round of the competition is to send his or her drawing to the Regional General Manager, The Hindu, 50-19-9, T.P.T. Colony, Seethammadhara, Visakhapatnam – 530013, by November 1. These entries will be scrutinised by a panel of judges to select the candidates who will be allowed to participate in the on-the-spot painting competition to be held in Visakhapatnam on November 25. The students selected to take part in the final round will be intimated about the same by November 10. ThemesStudents seeking to compete in the junior segment have the option of sending their paintings on any of the following themes: You and your computer; At the swimming pool; Visit to a flower garden; and Kite-flying at the beach. Students in the senior category can draw a picture on any of the following themes: Boat ride in a river; Train crossing a bridge; Inside a harbour; and Helping the handicapped. The painting will have to be drawn on a white drawing sheet of 26 cm X 27 cm and get it certified by the principal or school headmaster, or the art teacher, that it is the own work of the student. It should have the name, age, class, school and residential address. The entry should be sent along with two BooProo Liquid filled Bubble Gum mono wrappers to the address given above.
