Sundareswaran scalps five

Madurai: Saravana Sundareswaran’s five for 15 and Muthuveeran’s 67 helped Majestic CC chalk out a 83-run victory over SBOA CC in the Canara Bank-Madurai District Cricket Association first division ‘A’ zone league on Sunday.

The scores (first division) ‘A’ Zone: Majestic CC 162 in 41.2 overs (Muthuveeran 67, Sikkander four for 50) bt SBOA CC 79 in 27 overs (Saravana Sundareswaran five for 15).

‘B’ Zone: Richards CC 54 in 19 overs (Parthiban five for 19) lost to Oxford CC 55 for one in 14 overs.

SPC wins

Host Sri Paramakalyani College (Alwarkurichi) beat VOC College (Tuticorin) 21-29, 29-22, 29-20 for the title in the final of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University inter-collegiate ball badminton tournament at Alwarkurichi.

Other results: For third place: ST Hindu College (Nagercoil) bt MDT Hindu College (Tirunelveli) 29-17, 29-27.

AK CE triumphs

Arulmigu Kalasalingam College of Engineering (Krishnan Kovil) won the team title with 16 points in the Anna University Zone X inter-engineering chess tournament at Vallanadu recently.

Kamaraj EC (Virudhunagar) was second with 13.5 points and Mepco Schlenk EC (Sivakasi) finished third with 12.5 points.

With the conclusion of this event, all tournaments of Anna University Zone X are over and the overall championship in games and athletics (men and women) went to AK CE with 420 points. Mepco Schlenk EC finished second with 320 points and Dr. Sivanthi Adithanar College (Tiruchendur) was third with 290 points.

HPF SC posts win

At Udaghamandalam, HPF Sports Club and Hero’s Football Club won with relative ease in the NDFA-Sterling Biotech first division football league on Monday.

The results: HPF SC 3 (Rajeev Kuttan 11, Sebastian 16, Kumar 25) bt Sri Krishna SC 0; Hero’s FC 3 (Prithiv 30, 45, Jeeva 14) bt Lightning SC 0.

Easy for Lawrence

Chanveer Singh (67 not out) and John Samuel (50 not out) steered Lawrence School to an eight-wicket win over St. Joseph’s School (Ooty) in the NDCA under-17 inter-school cricket tournament for the F.K. Irani Trophy on Sunday.

The scores: U-19: St. Joseph’s (Ooty) 152 for nine in 35 overs lost to Lawrence 155 for two in 17.2 overs (Chanveer Singh 67 not out, John Samuel 50 not out).

U-17: St. Joseph’s (Coonoor) 122 for three in 28 overs (Nirmal Kumar 49) lost to Good Shepherd IS 123 for two in 19.3 overs (match reduced to 28 overs due to rain).
Neelambal in final

At Coimbatore, Neelambal HSS (Salem) defeated R.K.S. Kalvi Nilayam HSS (Coimbatore) by 12 runs to qualify for the inter-zone districts final of the TNCA-Boost Cup under-17 inter-school cricket tournament on Saturday.

The scores: Neelambal 148 for six in 30 overs (S. Sathyamoorthy 54, Srinivasan 41) bt RKS Kalvi Nilayam HSS 136 for nine in 30 overs.
RKS CA wins

RKS CA posted a four-wicket win over Tirupur CC in the Canara Bank-CDCA first division league for the Pricol Trophy on Sunday.

In the second division league for the Servall Trophy, A. Senthil Kumar’s (four for 14) hat-trick saw Kaleeswar CC score a 135-run win over Friends RC.

The scores: First division: Tirupur CC 108 in 38 overs lost to R.K.S Cricket Academy 109 for six in 29 overs. Second division: Kaleeswar CC 206 in 48.2 overs (Rajesh 43) bt Friends RC 71 in 22 overs (A. Senthil Kumar four for 14 – includes hat-trick); Dolphin CC 231 in 47.5 overs lost to R.S. Puram CC 233 for eight in 49.4 overs (Karthik Kumar 82 not out, Dinesh Pandi 46 not out).
