Facile win for Divakar Memorial

CHENNAI: Divakar Memorial defeated St. Paul’s RC 5-2 in a Chennai Hockey Association first division league match at the SDAT-Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium here on Saturday.

Ganesh (3), Magesh and Rajasekar scored for Divakar Memorial. For St. Paul’s RC, Kumaresan converted a brace.

Boost Cup matches postponed

Boost Cup-TNCA city schools under-17 cricket tournament matches for the C. Ramaswamy Trophy scheduled for Tuesday (October 23) stand postponed due to inclement weather and poor ground conditions.

Easy for Don Bosco

Don Bosco MHSS defeated SBOA School and Junior College by nine wickets in the Godrej city schools under-14 cricket tournament here on Monday.

The scores:

SBOA School and Junior College 35 in 14.9 overs (Ganpath four for 14, Jim Isreal three for eight) lost to Don Bosco MHSS 36 for one in 6.1 overs.

Sivaswamy Kalalaya SSS 102 in 20.2 overs (Srijith 28, L. Karthik 25, Varun four for 20, Hari three for five) lost to MCC HSS 105 for two in 18.5 overs (David 35, Kishore 26 not out).

St. John’s MHSS 102 for six in 25 overs (R. Kivin 34) bt St. Michael’s Academy 100 in 23 overs (Mukunth 46, Pravin four for 12).

St. John’s SSS 47 in 17.4 overs (Ajith four for 11, Mithun three for 12) lost to Pudur Govt. HSS 48 for one in 7.4 overs (Venkatesh 33 not out).

Praful Chand wins

Praful Chand won in category A of the Chennai leg of the Indotech MGC South Zone junior golf tournament on Sunday.

Despite early morning rain, the field remained undeterred. The competition in the various categories was keen and the final results in several categories showed ties that were decided by the better second day scorecard.

Final results with leading positions: Category A: Praful Chand 159, 2. Akhil Rao 160, 3. Tarun Veeraghavan 160.

Category B: 1. Akhil Rao 160, 2. Rahul Ravi 161, 3. Saqib Ahmed 162.

Chess tournament

Bloom Chess Academy will conduct a State-level open tournament at the Hall of Chess, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, on October 27 and 28.

The tournament, open to all, has a total prize fund of Rs. 20,000, including prizes for the under-8, 10, 12, and 14 categories.

Yogesh, Priya for Asian indoor games

P. Yogesh Kumar and C.S. Priya of Tamil Nadu will represent India in the second Asian indoor games at Macau from October 31 to November 3.

Yogesh and Priya are students of SBOA MHSS (Anna Nagar). Tamil Nadu’s K. Siva Prasad, an international referee, will be the technical official for the championship.
