NEW DELHI: BSF, Jalandhar, recovered from a tentative start to beat Corps of Signals, Goa, 3-0 and made it to the final qualifying round in the Durand Cup football tournament here on Monday. The BSF will play a struggling Hindustan FC on Thursday for a place in the main draw. BSF played dull in the first half before Ph. Boy Singh’s 65th minute strike livened up the proceedings. In the 84th minute, Harjit Singh shot from the top of the box to make it 2-0. Sarbjeet completed the tally in the third minute of the injury time. Earlier, Hindustan FC defeated Garhwal Heroes 5-4 in the tie-breaker after the two teams were tied goalless at the end of the regulation time. Manish Maithani, Jagbandhu Modi, Israel Gurung, Nathan and Harminder Singh scored for Hindustan while Ashish Pandey, Devesh Kaushik, Inderjit Sharma and Ganganlung Kamei struck for Garhwal Heroes. Rajib Karmakar, who took the fifth spot kick, sent a weak grounder and Hindustan goalkeeper Santosh Kumar Das blocked the shot.
