Public utility centre opened

KOCHI: A Jana Sevana Kendram, public utility centre of Kochi Corporation, was inaugurated at the Vyttila zonal office of the Corporation on Monday.

The Corporation will soon open another centre at its Edapally zonal office.

The public can make all the payments to the Kochi Corporation at the centres. The other facilities like issuance of certificates would be possible at a later stage when the centres are networked, said Mayor Mercy Williams, who presided over the function.

Inaugurating the Centre, S. Sarma, Fisheries Minister, said the local self-government offices in the State would be networked.

A.B. Sabu and M. Premachandran, councillors, felicitated. C.K. Manisankar, Deputy Mayor, welcomed the gathering and Sheik Ismail, secretary-in-charge, proposed a vote of thanks.

Mehaboob Park at Fort Kochi, set up using the funds of the Department for International Development, was also inaugurated on Monday.
