Police, KFCC representatives hold meeting Metal detectors, frisking suggested BANGALORE: The Bangalore Police have given a one-month deadline to all cinemas in the city to tighten security systems in the wake of the bomb blasts in cinemas elsewhere in the country. The one-month deadline came during a meeting of police officials with the representatives of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) here on Monday. Among the security measures that the police have insisted upon are installation of door frame metal detectors at the entrance of all cinemas and thorough frisking of baggage carried into the hall by the audience. The police have also asked the cinema owners to install CCTV cameras. They said that the halls should be thoroughly checked after every show. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) K.V. Sharathchandra told The Hindu that the punitive action to be initiated against the erring cinemas would be decided after consulting the deputy commissioner, who is the license issuing authority. Vice-president of the chamber Sa. Ra. Govindu said that similar steps would be initiated in all the cinemas across the State, and that the chamber would be writing to all the cinema owners in this regard. KFCC president Tallam Nanjundashetty and other representatives of the chamber also attended the meeting.
