Heavy rain lashes Mysore a day after Dasara
Special Correspondent
MYSORE: Heavy rain lashed Mysore on Monday and wrapped a wet blanket throwing life out of gear.
While it was cloudy throughout the day, the intermittent drizzle gave way to downpour late in the evening.
Attributed to retreating south-west monsoon and the advancing north-east monsoon, the city presented an eerie silence and the main thoroughfares were deserted after 10 days of cultural events and noisy celebrations that brought hundreds of thousands of people to the city to witness the grand finale to Dasara. The city experienced moderate to heavy rains on Sunday night that reinforced a deep-rooted belief among people that it unfailingly rains on the day of Vijayadashmi.
