Of political intrigues Film Review

Nasrani

The political situation prevailing in the State always provides a fertile ground for film makers. Nasrani, directed by Joshiey and cast in such a mould, has its share of fights, humour, music and entertainment. The story, script and dialogues are by Ranjith.

David John Kottarathil (Mammootty), D.K. for short, is the son of a rich planter, John (Captain Raju). He is in love with Sarah Eapan (Vimala Raman).

On the day of their betrothal, her father gets killed accidentally and John is imprisoned. Meanwhile, there is trouble in a prominent regional party. Ummachan (Jagathy Sreekumar), an MLA, is compelled to give up his position. M.C. Paul (Vijayaraghavan), the leader of the party, nominates his son Benny Paul (Arun) to succeed Ummachan. Benny gets involved in a scandal that results in the death of Archana, a medical student.

Her friend Annie (Mukta), who is Eapan’s illegitimate daughter, attempts to kill Benny. But before she could achieve her goal, he dies under mysterious circumstances.

The unravelling of the mystery behind Benny’s death is taken over by D.K. together with his sidekick, Suku (Kalabhavan Mani). The cast includes Bharat Gopi, Janardhanan, Lalu Alex, Biju Menon, Augustine, Devan, KPAC Lalitha and Sukumari.

Anil Panachooran’s lyrics are set to music by Bijibal. Camera is handled by Shaji. Nazrani is produced by Rajan Thaliparamba for Horizon Entertainment.
