Clampdown on helmetless riders

After a brief lull, the traffic police have started clamping down on two-wheeler riders who chose not to use helmets while riding their motorbikes.

Earlier during the festival seasons, the police had gone soft on those who skipped using helmets. On Tuesday, a police team was seen booking two-wheeler riders at the entry point of Ernakulam North Over Bridge where the motorists had to reduce the spe ed. At the same time, North Indian traders are doing brisk business selling designer helmets and the ones like caps on the city pavements.
