ALAPPUZHA: Writer A.S. Priya has been selected for the 17th Bhima Smaraka Bala Sahitya Award for the year 2006. At a press meet here on Tuesday, cartoonist Yesudasan said Ms. Priya’s ‘Chithrasalabhangalude Veedu’ had earned her the award, instituted by Alappuzha Chaitanya in memory of Bhima group founder Bhima Pattar. Writers Sethu, Sara Joseph and Jose Panachipuram comprised the panel. The winner will receive a cash prize of Rs.44,444, a citation and a statuette designed by sculptor Kanayi. —Staff Reporter
