‘Settle demands of employees through talks’

KOLLAM: P. Rajendran, MP, wanted the Centre to be prepared to settle the justified demands of the employees through talks.

He was delivering the commemorative speech at a meeting organised to mark the first death anniversary of D.C. D’cruz, a leader of the National Federation of Postal Employees.

Mr. Rajendran said that while the Fifth Pay Commission had sanctioned interim relief three times, the Sixth Pay Commission was yet to sanction an interim relief for the employees. He alleged that the Sixth Pay Commission was not committed to employees’ welfare. The ire of the employees against the Commission would be reflected in the October 30 general strike. He said that D’cruz was one who had given a strong leadership to the agitations for protecting the rights of the employees.

The federation leader P. Reghunatha Pillai presided over the meeting.
