Back minority government, parties urged
Special Correspondent
BANGALORE: Kannada Chalavali Vatal Paksha president and MLA Vatal Nagaraj has offered to take the initiative to form a minority government with outside support from other parties if the three major political parties in the State failed to form a new government to avoid mid-term elections in the State.
Announcing this at a press conference in Bangalore on Tuesday, Mr. Vatal Nagaraj urged the Janata Dal (Secular), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress to form a government. He alleged that it was not proper for these parties to force a mid-term election on the people. The MLAs had been elected for term of five years and it would be unfair to them if they were made to face the elections before the completion of the term, he said.
He alleged that the three major political parties were hesitating to forge an alliance only because of the egos and ideologies. Hence, offering an outside support to a minority government would be the best solution for the political parties to prevent a mid-term election without compromising with their ideologies, he said.
But he declined to disclose details such as who would be part of the minority government and who would become the Chief Minister.
