Paritala case adjourned

ANANTAPUR: The District and Sessions Court adjourned the Paritala Ravindra murder case to November 2 here on Tuesday due to the absence of one of the accused.

Absence of one accused or the other during every hearing has been delaying the process of framing of charges fixed by the investigating agency, the CBI, against them for about five months now.

Then special public prosecutor for CBI, M. Venkoba Rao, framed 22 charges against the 16 accused in the case in June this year.

As the presence of all the accused is mandatory while framing of charges against them as per law, the important procedure before the commencement of trial in the case has been getting postponed continuously.

Even the observation by the judge, K. Gaddenna, that the absence of one or two accused every time was delaying the process has failed to have any impact. V. Sreenivasulu, an accused, was absent on Tuesday on “health grounds.” Jail authorities informed the court that he was suffering from illness and was expected to undergo surgery.

Except Sreenivasulu, all the remaining 15 accused in the case -- G. Surynarayana Reddy alias Suri, J. Srinivasa Reddy alias Moddu Sreenu, P. Narayana Reddy, V. Rekhamaiah, V. Kondanna, B. Ranganayakulu, V. Hanumantha Reddy, T. Konda Reddy, M. Obi Reddy, T. Peddi Reddy, G. Venkateswar Reddy, K. Rammohan Reddy B. Ramaswamy, P. Goverdhan Reddy and U. Anandkumar Reddy -- were produced in the court. Tight security was arranged on the court premises and the media was also kept at bay.
