Two BMP jawans arrested

PATNA: Two Bihar Military Police jawans were arrested on Tuesday on charges of molesting a girl and shooting at and injuring three people, who intervened.
The jawans allegedly molested the girl near the JP chowk in Siwan on Sunday night during the Durga puja festivities. When her relatives protested, they opened fire with their service revolvers. The relatives and a passerby suffered bullet wounds.
Two of the injured, Bharat and Kanchan, were shifted to the Patna Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Police had first lodged a case against unknown persons but on the statements of the injured, the Siwan District Magistrate’s bodyguards Shakti Singh and Prithvi were named in the FIR. On Monday they were suspended.
