NRI’s assistance for Rajasthan University

Special Correspondent

JAIPUR: A non-resident Indian of Rajasthani origin has committed an economic assistance of Rs.5 crore to the University of Rajasthan to develop the necessary infrastructure for technical education. This is said to be the biggest amount the university has received so far from any individual.

Mehendra Gupta, who hails from Bharatpur in Rajasthan, had only recently instituted scholarships worth 10,000 dollars for students from the university excelling in various subjects. Mr. Gupta is the president of Health Care System, America.

The announcement on the fresh assistance came by chance at a function held in the university recently to felicitate Mr. Gupta. Vice-Chancellor N.K. Jain and members of the Syndicate were present when Mr. Gupta, who was told about the newly introduced technical subjects, volunteered to finance them.
