Life term for four persons

PUDUKOTTAI: The Fast Track Court here on Tuesday convicted four persons to life in connection with a murder for gain case that took place at Neivasalpatti near Arimalam in November 2006.

According to the prosecution, a group of miscreants murdered Porkodi (50) at her residence in Neivasalpatti, when she prevented them from robbing her mother Valliammai and her daughter Hemalatha of jewellery.

The Arimalam police registered a case and arrested Venugopal, Pandian, Senthil and Solai – all of Namakkal district in connection with the incident and filed a case in the Fast Track Court.

The Judge, P. Iyyasamy, found all the four guilty of the charges and awarded life sentence. The Judge also imposed a fine of Rs. 24,000 on each of them.
