HYDERABAD: Minister for Energy Mohd. Shabbir Ali has assured that all eligible persons below the poverty line will get priority in sanction of houses and pensions to widows, aged persons and the physically challenged under the Indiramma scheme. Addressing chairmen and members of ‘Intinta Indiramma’ Committees on Tuesday, he called upon the 107 teams formed for the enumeration exercise to be meticulous in their job to identify eligible beneficiaries. There will be no problem in issuing relevant certificates for providing with pensions for the appropriate candidates, he said. The Minister urged the teams to also detail the civic infrastructure available in the localities they were visiting as their reports would help take further action. “All your recommendations and suggestions will be considered seriously,” he said. He justified using partymen in the committees pointing out that the Congress was in power both at the Centre and the State, and the scheme was its baby. PensionsAbout 70,000 pensions were given and the target could be at least a lakh more, 19,655 were so far identified for housing and 4,408 new pensions given. Mr. Ali called upon women to form more self-help groups as Rs.200 crore is to be disbursed for loans under the 25 paise interest to them. Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee President D. Nagender said the 107 teams formed to go round each home in the core city area were eliciting good response. Senior Congress leaders were present.
