Daylight robbery in Asifnagar

HYDERABAD: Four men wearing masks took away gold and cash, all worth Rs.44,000, after attacking inmates of a house with knives at Asifnagar during daytime on Tuesday. They were later nabbed by the police. The house owner, T. Umakanth, 52, a chartered accountant, was away when the assailants barged into the house at Yashoda Colony around 2.30 p.m. They threatened his wife Padmaja and teenaged son, Pratyoday, with knives. Even as they fled after collecting Rs. 4,000 and two gold chains weighing two tolas, Pratyoday chased them while his mother shouted for help. On hearing their screams, residents caught one of them and handed him over to the police. Based on his confession, the police reportedly nabbed three of his associates .
