NEW DELHI: Bilal Ahmad netted twice as Jammu and Kashmir Bank stunned Oil India 2-0 to make it to the final qualifying round of the Durand Cup football tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Tuesday. Bilal struck an opportunistic goal in the 38th minute on a move created by Emmanuel Nnamani and Showkat Sultan. The bank team then played to defend its lead throughout the second half, before Bilal earned a spot kick when he was brought down inside the penalty area by Oil India goalkeeper, Jitu Chetry in the 82nd minute. Bilal himself took the penalty and made it 2-0. To meet Assam RiflesJammu and Kashmir Bank will meet Assam Rifles on Friday, for a place in the main draw of the 120th Osian’s Durand Cup. Earlier in the afternoon, Assam Rifles blanked Indian Navy XI 6-0 after leading 2-0 at half-time. Abel Sema scored in the 33rd minute to put the riflemen ahead before Akum Ao (43rd) doubled the lead. Thoithoiba Singh (52nd), D. Mukhin (64th), Ajit Singh (69th) and Nouba Singh (79th) were the other scorers. The results: J&K Bank 2 (Bilal Ahmad 2) bt Oil India 0; Assam Rifles 6 (Abel Sema, Akum Ao, Thoithoiba Singh, D. Mukhin, Ajit Singh, Nouba Singh) bt Indian Navy XI 0.
