Atchuta Rao scalps five for Andhra

VISAKHAPATNAM: A five-wicket haul by Andhra left-arm medium pacer T. Atchuta Rao against Hyderabad was the best performance of the day in the South Zone under-22 (C.K. Nayudu Trophy) tournament at the ACA-VDCA stadium here on Tuesday.

Hyderabad made 327 in its first innings. Amol Shinde, who was on 45 last evening, missed his century by six runs. Only 10 runs were added on the second day to the unbroken overnight partnership for the fourth wicket between Shinde and D.D. Prince.

The latter was out for 70 after scoring 10 runs in the morning.

Crucial match

In the crucial match of the last round of round-robin matches, Karnataka made 224 for four at close on the second day in reply to Tamil Nadu’s first innings total of 130 at the Port stadium.

V. Cheluva Raj (68) and Ganesh Satish (46) have so far added 65 runs for the fifth wicket.

Goa fights back

At the Railway stadium, Goa revived through a 134-run stand for the fourth wicket between A. Desai (80) and Mayank Gupta (57 batting) finished the day at 244 for five against Kerala.

The scores: Tamil Nadu 130 vs. Karnataka 224 for four in 103 overs (V. Cheluva Raj 68 batting, Ganesh Satish 46 batting, Amit Varma 34, C.M. Goutham 30, R. Jonathan 27).

Hyderabad 327 in 127.4 overs (Amol Shinde 98, D.D. Prince 70, Vishal Sharma 49, T. Atchuta Rao five for 45, K. Ravi Shankar three for 107) vs. Andhra 25 for one in 24 overs.

Goa 244 for five in 98 overs (A. Desai 82, Mayank Gupta 57 batting, Rohit Ashnodhkar 43, Madan Mohan three for 22) vs. Kerala.
