Health City is expected to attract massive investment Plots are sold at the rate of Rs. 3 crore per acre VISAKHAPATNAM: Plots have been allotted to four big hospital groups including Apollo and CARE in the Health City project coming up at Adarshnagar in the city. Aimed at showcasing Visakhapatnam as a hub for medical tourism for NRIs and others from the Middle East and South East Asia, the Health City with world-class facilities is expected to attract massive investment. VIMS also involvedThe Visakhapatnam Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS), a super-speciality hospital promoted by the State Government, is also part of the Health City project. It will have facilities like resorts, leisure tourism and helipad on an area of 100 acres. Of 65 acres earmarked for allotment to private groups adjoining VIMS, the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation has as of now allotted 10 acres to Apollo, five acres to Indian Institute of Cancer and Research and two acres to Rockdale Hospital for Women and Children. These projects will involve an investment of Rs.370 crores. Caring for attendantsAPIIC Chief General Manager B.S. Naidu told The Hindu that six acres was being allotted to Arogya Hospital. In all, 17 plots would be developed by the APIIC with world-class infrastructure, 80 ft. roads, underground drainage and cabling and communication facilities. There will be a provision to provide decent board and lodging facility for relatives accompanying the patients. Health care facilities being proposed in 17 plots will create employment opportunity for 2,000 people. The plots are sold at the rate of Rs. 3 crores an acre. “Infrastructure holds the key to promote Visakhapatnam into a hub for health tourism and the Health City project will further spur growth in attracting more investment in the health sector,” said Varma Vegesna, zonal chairman, Confederation of Indian Industry.
