VS’ warning

Staff Reporter

ALAPPUZHA: Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan has said that if the Union government went ahead with the nuclear deal without heeding to the Left’s warnings, a second Punnapra-Vayalar revolt might become vital for protecting the country’s independence.

Inaugurating the 61st anniversary celebrations of the historic peasant uprising at Paravur, near here, on Tuesday, Mr. Achuthanandan said the revolt of 1946 had succeeded to a great extent in achieving what it was intended for.
