Special Correspondent

Demands hike in MSP for paddy

SRIKAKULAM: In response to the call given by the party, TDP leaders, including former minister Appalasuryanarayna and former ZP chairman Y.V. Suryanarayna, staged a rasta roko at the busy seven road junction here on Wednesday. The party was demanding hike in the MSP for paddy.

They later submitted a memorandum at the tahasildar’s office. Some TDP leaders also staged a rail roko at the Srikakulam Road railway station in Amadalavalasa.

Kakinada: As a part of the agitation seeking minimum support price of Rs.1,000 for paddy, a large number of TDP workers detained the Chennai-bound Circar Express at the railway station here on Wednesday for some time.

Vanamadi Venkateswera Rao, former MLA, Chikkala Ramachandra Rao, former minister, and Dusarlapudi Ramanaraju, city unit secretary of the TDP, led the rail roko. The protestors squatted on the railway track and raised slogans.
