HYDERABAD: Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court G.S. Singhvi has said that mediation can reduce backlog of cases in courts, provide immediate relief and result in a win-win situation for both the parties. He was inaugurating a two-day training programme on ‘Role of mediation in dispute resolution’, organised by the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FAPCCI) in association with the International Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution, regional centre, here on Tuesday. He said that in spite of best efforts, there were a number of pending cases before the sub-ordinate courts and the high court. Ch. G. Krishnamurthy, member, ICADR governing council, said that mediation was an effective tool for resolving disputes of any nature. He stressed the importance of training for effective mediation. Atluri Subba Rao, FAPCCI president, called for putting in place a system of alternative dispute resolution, saying it would reduce the burden on the judiciary. Justice G. Raghuram of the High Court, and Firdoshali S.Kassam, a master trainer in mediation, spoke.
