PANAJI: Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Leader of Opposition Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday wrote a letter to Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat demanding that the Government investigate the alleged manipulation in land allotment to private investors at Phase IV of Verna Industrial Estate in 2006. Mr. Parrikar released copies of his letter to the press here. The BJP has launched a campaign against alleged irregularities in land allotment to investors, including those setting up special economic zones. Giving details of the land allotment and meetings of the Board of Directors of the Goa Industrial Development Corporation, the former Chief Minister alleged that the State suffered a loss of Rs. 51 crore in the allotment of 34 lakh square metres of land. His contention is that the agency gave away the land at lower prices.“If the Chief Minister fails to order a probe after getting my letter backed by documents, then I will approach the next forum for justice,” he said.
