KOTTAYAM: A fine century by M. Mithun (108) enabled Alappuzha gain the first innings lead against Pathanamthitta in the South Zone inter-district under-17 cricket tournament at the Medical College ground on Wednesday. Karnarkar, Raith shineAlappuzha in reply to Pathanamthitta’s first innings total of 216 scored 293 for five in the mandatory 90 overs. Apart from Mithun, there were useful contributions from Sabin Karnarkar (78) and G. Raitsh (67), which boosted Alappuzha’s total. At Nehru Stadium, fine spells by Pradyuth (six for 35) and Bibin Chatterjee (four for 36), saw Kollam bundled out for 136 in reply to Thiruvananthapuram’s first innings total of 292 for eight. Two pointsHowever, both matches ended in draw with Thiruvananthapuram and Alappuzha getting two points each for the first innings lead. The scores: Pathanamthitta 216 & 41 for two in eight overs drew with Alappuzha 293 for five in 90 overs (M. Mithun 108, Sabin Karnakar 78, G.
