Chrar-e-Sharief shrine to open after 12 years
Srinagar: The revered shrine of famous Kashmiri sufi saint Sheikh-ul-Alam at Chrar-e-Sharief in Budgam district will be opened next month after a gap of 12 years.
According to Deputy Commissioner, Budgam, Farooq Ahmad Renzu, all the construction work at the shrine including that of the namaz gah (prayer hall) has been completed and it would be opened for regular prayers from second week of November.
The shrine of Shiekh-ul-Alam was damaged in a fire incident in 1995 following an encounter between security forces and militants and could not be repaired in the last 12 years due to various reasons. — PTI
