Hartal Time: The Malabar region will witness scenes like this twice during the next one week, as two hartals have been called by political parties. After a brief interval, it is hartal time again. Malabar is going to be paralysed twice within a space of six days. First of the twin hartals scheduled for the week is on Saturday, called by the Indian Union Muslim League, in protest against the ‘neglect of the Karipur airport by the authorities.’ That will be followed by the BJP’s State-wide hartal on November 1 (originally planned for September 14), against the delay in forming a railway zone in the Sta te. In short, the people of Malabar will be subjected to all the hartal-related inconveniences twice within a week. Those who had been preparing hard for the PSC’s Lower Division Clerks examination, scheduled to be held in Kozhikode on Saturday, now find that the examination has been postponed at the eleventh hour. It will now be held on November 24, provided, of course, somebody does not decide to impose a hartal that day. P.K. Ajith Kumar
