Was convicted in Madhumita murder case on Wednesday Dehra Dun: A day after a Special Court here sentenced them to life imprisonment district jail authorities on Thursday withdrew all VIP facilities to former Uttar Pradesh minister Amarmani Tripathi and his wife Madhumani. “We have withdrawn all the facilities which were earlier given to Amarmani Tripathi and his wife”, Dehra Dun district jail superintendent B.P. Pandey said here. District and sessions Judge V.B. Rai had convicted the couple along with two others in the high profile poetess Madhumita Shukla murder case and sentenced them to life imprisonment under sections of 302 and 120 B of the IPC on Wednesday. With the withdrawal of these facilities both Mr. Tripathi and his wife who were getting VIP facilities in jail till Wednesday will now have to wear jail uniform and work like other jail inmates, Mr. Pandey said adding some work will be assigned to the former U.P. minister soon. The hearing of the case began in Dehra Dun in March this year after the CBI expressed fears that Mr. Tripathi and his wife Madhumanimight impede a free and fair trial in their home State. -- PTI
