Saying it with garlands: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda with members of the Valmiki community in Chandigarh on Thursday. CHANDIGARH: Representatives of the All India Scheduled Castes Unity Association, Haryana Branch and Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee Scheduled Castes Cell on Thursday met Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda at his residence here and thanked him for his announcement of giving plots free of cost to persons belonging to these sections. It may be recalled that Mr. Hooda had made the announcement at the ‘Bijli’ Rally at village Jharli on October 7 in the presence of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi. Mr. Hooda said that it was a ground reality that whenever the poor people and the members belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Backward Classes were ‘annoyed’ with the Congress it had to face a humiliating defeat in the elections. It was also a fact then when the opposition parties came to power, these people had to face ‘miseries’. He asserted that people belonging to Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes and the downtrodden were the backbone of the Congress. He cautioned that people should beware of “leaders who would mislead them by making false promises.”
