Sri Lankan detained

CHENNAI: A Sri Lankan national was detained on Wednesday by the Central Crime Branch police on charges of attempting to travel on a fake passport from Chennai to London.

According to the police, Deiventhiran (37) of Vellavitta, Sri Lanka, arrived from Colombo on October 4. After travelling to several places, he had planned to leave for London from the city.

Initial inquiries revealed that the passport was forged and hence he was detained, a senior CCB officer said.
