Oracle opens two new units

NEW DELHI: Oracle on Thursday announced the launch of two new units in India — Oracle Asia Research and Development Centre (OARDC) and Oracle Partner Solution Centre (OPSC). Located in Gurgaon near Delhi, the two centres will focus on delivering Oracle and partner solutions to the Indian market and also to the Asia-Pacific region.

Addressing a press conference here, Oracle Corporation Senior Vice-President (Asia-Pacific), Brian Mitchell, said the new units were a part of Oracle’s 19 research, development and solution centres spread across Asia-Pacific and Japan. The hardware infrastructure at OPSC had been sponsored by Sun Microsystems and AMD.Stating that Oracle’s investment in India over the past five years has crossed $3 billion, Mr. Mitchell said the company now has seven development and solution centres in India, which includes an e-governance centre, a retail centre of excellence, as well as three global development centres at Bangalore, Hyderabad and Noida that focus on developing Oracle products for the global market. According to Oracle India Managing Director, Krishan Dhawan, “OARDC and OPSC will help us and our partners deliver creative and innovative IT solutions that will enable Indian enterprises and governments meet the local citizens’ and consumers’ unique needs.”
