Condemning inordinate delay in setting up of new bus stand in Valkaradu area
THENI: Hundreds of cadres of AIADMK led by Periyakulam MLA O. Paneerselvam on Thursday staged demonstration near Theni central bus stand condemning inordinate delay in setting up of new bus stand proposed in Valkaradu area on Forest Road.
Mr. Paneerselvam said the Government led by AIADMK had agreed to offer lands in Varushanadu hill to compensate the land given by the forest department for the bus stand at Valkaradu area. But the Union Minister T. R. Baalu put the new bus stand project on hold.
He politicised the issue and refused to grant permission to set up a bus stand there. The present DMK-led Government too has not taken any steps in this direction so far. “If the Government failed to take positive steps within a month, he warned, AIADMK would agitate against the it aggressively.” Already, former chief minister J. Jayalalithaa had announced that the AIADMK men would stage demonstration in Theni.
