NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has restrained the Union Government from reclaiming a piece of land allotted to Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s media wing, Vishva Samvad Kendra, by the National Democratic Alliance Government on Rouse Avenue in North Delhi in 2001.
Justice Ravindra Bhatt passed the restraint order on a petition by the Kendra challenging an order by the Government to cancel the allotment.
Counsel for the petitioner submitted that the Government order cancelling the allotment of the land was illegal and unconstitutional as it was made after due approval from the different ministries concerned.
The Government had allotted the land, measuring 1044.09 square metres, to the Kendra at a cost of Rs.23.27 lakh.
The UPA Government had cancelled the allotment this year.
