Bangalore: A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and Justice Ashok B. Hinchigeri on Thursday admitted a petition by the Dandeli Bachao Andolana Samithi. The samithi had challenged the action of the State Government in permitting a private sugar factory in Kesarvalli village in Dandeli taluk to draw water from the River Kali.

The petitioners said if the factory is permitted to draw water, it would affect generation of electricity.
