‘Sahara’ for sex workers

HYDERABAD: To address problems of the HIV-affected and sex workers, the Hyderabad district administration is bringing 22 different Government departments on a single platform and provide solutions to the individual needs of the target group.

Named ‘Sahara’, the programme would address the basic issues like sanction of house sites, pension and voter ID cards apart from training individuals in various disciplines to lead a better life.

“The target groups don’t come out in open to claim these benefits from the government or get ignored due to various reasons. The effort is to help them through the single window concept,” Collector R. Chandravadan told a press conference here on Thursday. The programme will kick off at Gandhi Hospital on October 27.

He said about a thousand people were expected to participate in the programme which would be inaugurated by the Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Sambhani Chandrasekhar.
