ANNADEVARAPET (WEST GODAVARI): The Administrative Reforms Commission (ARC) will recommend to the United Progressive Alliance government that a national law be framed to deal with inter-State disputes over sharing river waters, Chairman M. Veerappa Moily said on Thursday.
An ARC report on sharing river waters and dispute resolution among the riparian States would be released within two weeks.
He was addressing a rally here along with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy after releasing Godavari waters from the Tadipudi Lift Irrigation Scheme for kharif crops.
Mr. Moily, who is also an AICC general secretary in charge of Andhra Pradesh, praised Dr. Reddy for launching the ‘Jalayagnam’ of building irrigation projects.
Dr. Reddy said his Government was determined to complete the Indira Sagar project in the next four years. He would also fulfil his promise of Rs. 2 a kg subsidy rice scheme within four months.
