MANWADA (KARIMNAGAR DT.): Lethargy on the part of the district revenue authorities is hampering the progress of the ambitious Mid Manair Dam (MMD) reservoir across Manair river as part of SRSP Flood flow canal project at Manwada village of Boinpalli mandal in the district.
The MMD reservoir proposes to store about 26 tmcs of water and irrigate about 2 lakh acres in Karimnagar district. It was decided to acquire about 19,446 acres for the project.
Eighteen villages would be completely submerged under the project.
Though Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy had planned to lay the foundation stone for the MMD reservoir in November 2006, it had to be deferred because of notification for the Karimnagar bypoll.
