Nanjil Sampath arrested

DINDIGUL: Nanjil Sampath, propaganda secretary of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, was arrested on Thursday on the charge of making derogatory remarks against Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi at a public meeting at Batlagundu near here on Wednesday night.

An unidentified gang smashed tubelights at the meeting venue, threw stones and metal chairs at speakers on the dais. It also assaulted several MDMK volunteers. Party’s district secretary R. Selva Ragavan and functionaries Rajendran and Suresh were injured in the incident.
