Rain in several parts of State

CHENNAI: Most places of the State received rainfall during the 24-hour period that ended at 8-30 a.m. on Thursday.

Manalmelkudi in Pudukottai district received 22 cm and Mayiladuthurai in Nagapattinam district 21 cm. Chidambaram and Kattumannarkoil, both in Cuddalore district, registered 20 cm and 19 cm respectively. Sivagiri in Tirunelveli district recorded 16 cm; Kodaikanal – 15 cm; Parangipettai in Cuddalore district and Thiruvadanai in Ramanathapuram district 14 cm each. The Meteorological Department attributed the rainfall to the presence of a low pressure area over Sri Lanka and adjoining southwest bay.
