Pending cases to be withdrawn

CHENNAI: Steps will be taken to withdraw pending cases relating to group clashes in the Southern districts, in view of centenary celebrations of Pasumpon Muthuramlinga Thevar, Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi announced here on Thursday.

In a statement, the Chief Minister said except cases relating to murder and rape, others would be withdrawn. This was being done with a view to promoting amity among various sections of society, he added. — Special Correspondent
