Honouring a teacher

KOCHI: Thirty-seven years in teaching produces many generations of students. And when they come together to honour the teacher, it is going to be a great occasion, for sure.

Malini Hariharan, Professor and Head of the Department of Music, Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, is being given a grand reception on her 60th birthday by her students and well-wishers. They are supported by the Kerala Fine Arts Society and the Dakshina Bharata Sangeetha Prachara Sabha in this. The function, to be inaugurated by the former Supreme Court judge K.S. Paripoornan, will be held at the Fine Arts Hall on Saturday. Dignitaries who will address the function include Sree Sankaracharya University Vice-Chancellor K.S. Radhakrishnan; K.V. Thomas, C.M. Dinesh Mani and K. Babu, MLAs; P.R. Kumara Kerala Varma, former Principal of Sree Swati Tirunal College of Music; A. Jalaja Varma, Head of the Department of Music, School of Drama, Thrissur; Shyamala Surendran of Dharani School of Performing Arts; and K. Premalatha, Department of Music, Government College of Women, Thiruvananthapuram.
