Legal action planned against hartal organisers

KOZHIKODE: State Committee of the Hartal Virudha Munnani will initiate legal proceedings against organisers of hartals in the State.

At a press meet here on Friday K. Chandra Babu, its State secretary, said legal action will be initiated against the hartal called by the Indian Union Muslim League on October 27 and the BJP on November 1, as it amounted to violation of the Kerala High Court directive that normal life of citizens or the right to work should not be affected by such protests. Adherence by public to hartals was due to fear and it was not an indication of the success of the organisation, he added.
