JAIPUR: Rajasthan Governor S.K. Singh on Friday called upon agricultural scientists to provide the benefits of their research to farmers to help them augment their crop yield and grow crops gainfully in adverse circumstances. Addressing a seminar on “Integrated farming system and its role in improving quality of life” at Rajasthan Agriculture University’s Durgapura Research Centre here, Mr. Singh said an enhancement in the crop yield would lead to a better rural life and improve socio-economic condition of villages. The three-day seminar was organised jointly by the Rajasthan Agriculture University and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). Mr. Singh said the integrated farming systems should be improved in the light of better agricultural management and ecological balance. “Optimum utilisation of water is also an important aspect of agricultural practices in our country,” he said. Farming System Research and Development Association’s president S.K. Sharma said agricultural scientists were making concerted efforts to deal with the decline in ground water level. ICAR Project Director M. S. Gill said research would help in getting a good yield by utilising the available natural resources.
