Krishnagiri: Minister for Environment and Sports T.P.M Mohideen Khan discussed with officials and elected representatives on works taken up in the District Sports Complex to give it a facelift on Friday.
The multipurpose sports stadium would consist of an outdoor and indoor playfield, boxing ring, an eight-lane sports track of 400 metres, football and hockey field and courts for playing badminton, basketball, tennis, volleyball and kabbadi. Two basketball courts had been constructed at an outlay of Rs.4 lakh each.
The tennis court being constructed at an estimate of Rs.15 lakh was in the final stages of completion.
A multipurpose hall, which could also be used as a dormitory for the sportspersons, was being constructed at an outlay of Rs. 20 lakh.
In addition construction of a main pavilion and viewers gallery had been started at an estimate of Rs. 60 lakh.
The construction of state-of-the-art swimming pool had been taken up at an amount of Rs.60 lakh.
The construction of an indoor stadium with state-of-the-art facilities at a cost of Rs. 1.2 crore was in the final stages of completion, the Minister added.
