PUDUCHERRY: The computerisation of police stations in the Union Territory will be completed in the next six months, according to Inspector General of Police K. Kishan Kumar. The computerisation work taken up under Common Integrated Police Application (CIPA) was completed in 17 police stations, he said after inspecting the progress of the work at the Muthialpet station here on Friday. Mr Kumar said work in the remaining 24 stations would be completed in six months. Once the project was completed, complaint copies would be scanned and stored in computer. Instead of manual registration of cases, a First Information Reports would be listed in the computer, he said. The Union Government had sanctioned Rs 1.8 crore to purchase equipment, putting the infrastructure and training of manpower in computer operation, he said.
